24 April 2012 --- The international business research and strategy consulting firm Frost & Sullivan has just given the 2011 Award for “European food fibre ingredients customer value enhancement” to Roquette for its Nutriose soluble fibre. To be presented next May in London, the award highlights the added value provided by Nutriose to food industry users thanks to its nutrition and health benefits – in particular weight management – and the supporting scientific evidence.
Frost & Sullivan is a global growth consulting firm specializing in the analysis of new market opportunities. Its awards for distinction identify the companies demonstrating exemplary performance in their respective sectors.
The Customer Value Enhancement award singles out Nutriose for having demonstrated superior and even unique performance in the global food fibres market. The Frost & Sullivan analysts identified industry best practice on the basis of a number of criteria; those analyzed were continuous improvement, sustainable development, the natural solutions offer and technical support.
Roquette’s strategy of continuous improvement, in particular with regard to the scientific validation of its ingredients’ nutritional and health properties, was particularly honored. Strongly supported by several clinical studies proving its effects on satiety, weight management and certain metabolic syndrome determinants, Nutriose meets the high expectations of a market seeking to reduce the incidence of metabolic disorders linked to lifestyle (excess weight, diabetes, etc.). “There is a real need for practical solutions to prevent the accelerating increase in obesity occurring in many countries: Nutriose provides the nutritional and technological assets that can make those solutions happen”, comments Catherine Lefranc, Corporate Manager of Scientific Communication for Nutrition at Roquette.
Other major trends observed by Frost & Sullivan are sustainable development and the need for natural alternatives. Nutriose is a fibre obtained from two renewable raw materials: maize and wheat. This results in a wide range of fibres whose molecular weight is tailor-made for the required end application. This remarkable flexibility - guaranteed gluten-free, GMO-free and Kosher/Halal-certified - is, according to Frost & Sullivan, also a major distinguishing factor. “Roquette is a European and world-wide leader in different food ingredients; Nutrition & Health form one of our strategic development axes. The development of Nutriose soluble fibre is rooted in Roquette’s outstanding innovation policy and is part of the portfolio of solutions offered to consumers in targeted markets with strong demand”, comments Catherine Le Bihan, Product Manager at Roquette.
The consultancy’s final criterion was technical support. “Think global, act local”: with several application laboratories to its name in Asia, Europe and the USA, the Roquette group is well-placed to supply skills and fully equipped pilot facilities for numerous food applications in any part of the world. Roquette can thus meet the specific needs of local users (not least the gustatory).
