New Emulsifier Now Self-Affirmed GRAS
TICAmulsion A-2010 offers improved functionality over other emulsifiers because it effectively emulsifies the most difficult systems such as those that contain oil levels of more than 10%.
25/06/07 Stabilizer manufacturer TIC Gums announced has self-affirmed the GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) status for its TICAmulsion line of modified gum acacia emulsifiers based on an evaluation from an independent expert panel of scientists. This status permits the use of modified gum acacia in a wide variety of foods and beverages.
The first product in the line, TICAmulsion A-2010, was initially launched with the more limited FEMA GRAS status in 2004 for use in flavor and beverage emulsions. TICAmulsion A-2010 offers improved functionality over other emulsifiers because it effectively emulsifies the most difficult systems such as those that contain oil levels of more than 10%.
"Self-affirmed GRAS status is an exciting advance for manufacturers because it creates new opportunities for them to apply the superior emulsification capabilities of TICAmulsion technology in a wide range of foods," said Greg Andon, president of TIC Gums. Notice will be presented to the FDA of the self-affirmation.
