Major Ingredient Supplier Receives GMP Certification from NSF International
This includes all aspects of the manufacturing process, from raw material control to finished product release, as well as employee training, validation of testing equipment, product traceability and facility maintenance.
21 Dec 2009 --- NSF International announced that a leading manufacturer of nutritional ingredients, Kemin Health, has successfully completed a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) audit at their facilities in Des Moines, Iowa. This independent, third-party plant audit verifies the facilities’ compliance with current dietary supplement GMPs.
GMPs are regulations outlined by the U.S. Federal Drug Administration (FDA), which require that the processes by which dietary supplement ingredients are produced are safer and free of possible contamination. This includes all aspects of the manufacturing process, from raw material control to finished product release, as well as employee training, validation of testing equipment, product traceability and facility maintenance.
GMPs for the current NSF International Dietary Supplements Certification Program are included in NSF International American National Standard 173, the only American National Standard for Dietary Supplements.
Ed Wyszumiala, General Manager of the NSF International Dietary Supplements Certification Program says, “When choosing a supplement manufacturer, it is essential that you select one that is GMP certified. Kemin Health’s GMP Certification means that they are in compliance with all of the GMP regulations and are committed to producing high quality products.”
For meeting GMP requirements, Kemin Health is listed on the NSF International Web site. To ensure continued performance, NSF International will conduct audits of Kemin Health’s facilities in Des Moines every six months.
