Lysi’s expanded plant capacity coincides well with the demand from their increasing market growth in North America. Much of the growth in the U.S. is attributed to the success of one of their strategic partners, Boulder-based ArcticSource1. “After surpassing expectations last year, ArcticSource1 is budgeted to account for 3 million pounds of Omega-3 sales this year,” reports Agusta Hardardottir, Lysi’s Director of Marketing and Sales of bulk materials.
Feb 28 2012 --- Lysi, hf, already the largest Icelandic producer of high quality Omega-3 products, is doubling production capacity at their HQ in Reykjavik. “The work will be completed next month. We are scheduled to begin utilization of the additional capacity beginning March 31”, says Snorri Mar Egilsson, plant manager at Lysi.
“The purchase of the Norwegian cod liver oil operation Maritex late last year, secured long-term access to local arctic raw material which will be processed at our expanded plant in Iceland,” says Katrin Petursdottir. She adds, “Rapidly increasing demand for our products made this decision easy.”
In line with their commitment to environmental responsibility, all energy consumed at both the current and new plants is generated from clean and renewable geothermal power.
