LIPSA Progressing with Sustainable Palm Oil Delivery
It received the first shipment coming from Papua New Guinea by January 2010 with 3,000 metric tons of Segregated Sustainable Palm Oil supplied by the plantation New Britain Palm Oil (NBPOL). Since then, Lipsa is offering the product to its customers in Europe and already processing and delivering it.
14 Apr 2010 --- Lipidos Santiga (Lipsa) has noted that it obtained the certification to supply sustainable palm and palm kernel oils in the categories of Segregation and Mass Balance as per the RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) criteria on December 8, 2009.
Lipsa was the first Spanish company to obtain such certifications and one of the first in Europe. Lipsa has reported that it showed its commitment towards sustainability and the RSPO by importing the first bulk cargo into continental Europe as it received the first shipment coming from Papua New Guinea by January 2010 with 3,000 metric tons of Segregated Sustainable Palm Oil supplied by the plantation New Britain Palm Oil (NBPOL). Since then, Lipsa is offering the product to its customers in Europe and already processing and delivering it.
Lipsa is starting to offer palm fractions also imported from NBPOL, as they will be receiving a second bulk cargo with Segregated Sustainable Palm Stearine by the end of April. Sustainable Palm olein will be available under request. With these imports Lipidos Santiga wants to give a solution to the demands of their clients who are increasingly committed to the consumption of sustainable oil.
Lipsa said it is aiming to encourage European consumers to use sustainable palm oil as it is the way to protect and be fair with our environment. The company stressed that it is very important that the users of palm oil become members of the RSPO and ask for the certification as well, otherwise it is not possible for them to make the claim to the final consumers.
