Hong Kong start-up Allklear scores HK$10M funding for Detox Future Salad made with aerospace tech
30 Aug 2021 --- Allklear has completed a HK$10 million (US$1.3 million) series pre-A funding for its Detox Future Salad drink – bringing its total value estimate to nearly HK$100 million (US$12.8 million). The Hong Kong food-tech start-up’s flagship product is created with freeze-drying food technology, a technology used to manufacture aerospace foods.
The company is eying an IPO within the next four years.
“The Detox Future Salad is made from natural vegetables and fruits using freeze-drying food technology,” explains Angus Au Hiu Fung, the chief marketing officer of Allklear. “The revolutionary product breaks from tradition by transforming salads into drinks. It takes less than five minutes to prepare and drink a sachet of Future Salad. It is convenient and healthy.”
Allklear will soon be launching a new line of products, featuring new flavors of high-protein, high-calcium and keto formula Future Salads that serve different functional purposes.
This latest round of financing will help the company accelerate its expansion into the mainland Chinese and international markets. In the coming year, it is anticipated to reach over HK$1 billion (US$130 milion) revenue.
The funding was backed by lead investor Gobi Partners, private investor Miss Hong Kong 2020 Lisa-Marie Tse, and co-investors – Chartwell Ventures Limited, Vectr Ventures and Novel Tycoon.
A strong year-on-year sales growth of 245 percent was recorded in June 2021.
Crossing health with convenience
Functional beverages have been flourishing in new product launches as time-starved consumers seek convenient health boosts.
Detox Future Salad contains extracts from 12 natural ingredients and provides 25 essential nutrients including vitamins B, C, E and K, calcium, iron, zinc, magnesium, copper, amino acids, and dietary fibers, blended in what Allklear calls a “golden ratio.”
One sachet of Detox Future Salad offers dietary fiber and nutritional value “equivalent to five bowls of traditional salad,” offering a potential solution to counter imbalanced diet, weight issues and digestive problems.
With the pandemic shifting people's attention to healthy living, Allklear’s easy-to-use Future Salad sachets come as a convenient way to ensure adequate daily fiber intake.
Social media-driven momentum
Allklear is now operating with 50 team members in Hong Kong, Taiwan and mainland China. It achieved breakeven shortly after its inception two years ago.
Since its launch, Future Salad has reached over 20 billion social media impressions in the Greater China region.
On top of her investment, Tse joined the company as the chief brand officer. “I came to know Allklear from social media,” she comments.
“Allklear Future Salad comes in handy sachets, so I can have it anytime anywhere to make sure I have enough dietary fiber and nutrients for the day.”
“They are made from all-natural ingredients and do not contain any artificial chemicals or medication,” she notes. “I was impressed by the brand’s futuristic vision and its low-carbon plant-based diet concept.”
