Hochdorf Makes “Important Step” Closer to Consumer After Pharmalys Acquisitions
20 Dec 2016 --- Hochdorf said it has made an “important step” in moving closer towards the end consumer after completing its purchase of infant nutrition companies Pharmalys Laboratories and Pharmalys Africa. Hochdorf has purchased a 51 percent stake in both companies, as well as a 49 percent stake in sister company Pharmalys Tunisia. It will subsequently up its shareholding in Pharmalys Tunisia to 51 percent.
Pharmalys Africa is a joint-venture between Pharmalys and Hochdorf, the Swiss company whose products are made from natural ingredients such as milk and oil seeds
“Hochdorf aims to move closer towards the end user and this majority holding in Pharmalys is an important step in this direction,” said Thomas Eisenring, the CEO of Hochdorf.
Pharmalys has a presence in over 40 countries, including Africa, Middle East and Asia and staff of over 500. The Swiss-based company markets infant nutrition under the Primalac and Swisslac brands.
Hochdorf has been making infant formula for Pharmalys since 2008 but until now Hochdorf did not supply the end consumer market in baby care.
“The Hochdorf Group is striving towards forward integration in the area of infant nutrition,” added Dr Eisenring. “An association with one of our largest customers is exactly in keeping with our strategy. We have enjoyed excellent collaboration with Pharmalys for years.”
