GNT Consolidates Innovation & R&D
23 Jan 2015 --- GNT, leading global provider of Colouring Foods, has restructured and consolidated its innovation and R&D teams.
The aim is to continue to be able to optimally meet the individual requirements of clients in the food and beverage industry.
Bettina Blau, Managing Director of GNT Europa GmbH and new member of the GNT Group’s Executive Committee, said: “As a pioneer in this market segment, GNT is aware of its responsibility and is eager to actively support the development of its customers’ global markets with its newly created structures. In the future GNT will continue to be the guarantor for safe, clean and innovative products”. She will head the newly created department.
Blau told FoodIngredientsFirst that clean label is forefront of consumers’ minds at the moment, particularly in the confectionery sector: “In confectionery it is even more important as consumers know that this is not the best food there is. To compensate they can make sure that as many ingredients as possible, next to sugar, are natural and easy to understand.
“Colouring Foods are highly preferred here as consumers understand their colours are just other food ingredients. On the ingredient list they can see exactly which fruits and vegetables the concentrates are derived from and what the ingredient is used for. Ingredients like that make consumers feel less bad about their indulgence.”

Her former sales responsibilities will be taken over by Petra Thiele, who has recently been appointed to the Managing board of GNT Europa GmbH. Petra Thiele has been working for GNT for many years. Prior to her new assignment she worked as Market Development Manager, where she was responsible for the opening of new markets and the establishment of a GNT branch in Singapore.
“As pioneer in the field of Colouring Foods, innovations traditionally are of great importance to us”, said Dr. Hendrik Hoeck, Managing Partner of the GNT Group. The aim of the development department’s restructuring was to further strengthen the company’s power of innovation.
GNT has enjoyed strong growth in recent years, particularly as a result of the EU regulatory changes that came into effect in 2007 that state that any food or beverage containing certain synthetic colors must now bear a warning label.
