18/12/06 DSM Dairy Ingredients and Biotec SA are investing in new facilities in Buenos Aires to produce a range of cheese coatings for Argentina and the South American market. Initially producing the market-leading Delvocoat range of coatings, the new plant will offer manufacturers tailor-made solutions to their coating needs, combining local knowledge and experience with DSM Dairy Ingredients’ global coatings expertise.
“The dairy market in Argentina is growing rapidly, with both domestic and export sales increasing” comments Klaus Haslinger, regional sales director, DSM Dairy Ingredients. “By investing in this joint operation with Biotec SA, DSM will be able to deliver the best preservation solutions for the Argentinian dairy industry – providing added value to all our customers”.
Located in the Pilar Industrial Park, DSM’s new facilities will enable the company to reduce lead times and stock costs. DSM Dairy Ingredients and Biotec SA will be working closely with local regulatory authorities to develop preservation solutions that are optimised for local products, conditions and preferences.
The Delvocoat range of cheese coatings offers a wide range of colours and textures, creating product specific packaging that ensures lasting consumer appeal. In addition, Delvocoat provides additional support to the barrier function of the cheese rind, protecting and enhancing the natural ripening process. The coatings reduce the risk of mechanical damage to the cheese, avoid excessive weight loss and allow for further automation of the cheese ripening process, so reducing the labour costs involved with the maturation, storage and transport of natural ripened cheese. Delvocoat delivers all these important benefits to a wide range of hard, semi hard and semi soft cheeses.
