Biorigin Strengthens international Presence With PTX Acquisition
The transaction of the acquisition of PTX Food Corp. will be completed by the end of November. In 2007, the company revenues were USD 7 million, with forecasted revenues of USD 8.5 million in 2008 and USD 12 million in 2009.
20/11/08 Continuing the internationalization that started in September, with the acquisition of the Norwegian company Immunocorp Animal Health, Biorigin, has recently acquired the North American company PTX Food Corp.
“This acquisition will allow our expansion and will strengthen our position in the global scenario by increasing out offer of solutions, ingredients, and applications in the Food Ingredients and Animal Nutrition market. PTX is a biotechnology company, which team is highly knowledgeable and competent, reinforcing our team, and ensuring the success of our internationalization process,” says Mario Steinmetz, Biorigin director.

PTX Food Corp. acquisition will reinforce Biorigin strategy of offering health and life quality solutions to the public as ingredients that allow salt reduction, enhance the flavor of foods, and
several other functions.
Meanwhile Biorigin has just hired a new expert for the Research and Development department.
Biorigin hired Cláudia Cristina Ferreira Sena, M.Sc. in Bio-processed Engineering by the Federal University of Paraná, with a post-graduation in Food Processing and a degree in Pharmacy and Biochemistry by UFSC (Federal University of Santa Catarina). Cláudia worked for almost 10 years in an important food company, where she acquired experience in Aromas by Reaction in Latin America.
Claudia Sena will reinforce Biorigin’s team. The company announced last week the acquisition of PTX Food Corp. According to Biorigin’s director, Mário Steinmetz, this will allow Biorigin to extend and to strengthen its position in the global scenario, expanding its offer of solutions, ingredients, and applications for the food ingredient and animal nutrition markets.
