Baron Tequila Wins Gold Medal in L.A. International Spirits Competition
06 Jun 2014 --- “We are pleased to announce that Baron Tequila has been awarded a Gold Medal in this year’s Los Angeles International Spirits Competition,” says Tequilier David Khaim, of Baron Tequila, the newest, ultra-premium tequila handcrafted in Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico and certified gluten free and kosher.
“This prestigious recognition is just another in a series of awards for our exciting new product, which is taking the industry by storm.”
According to Ruiz, Baron Tequila is made in partnership with the family-owned and operated Ansan Distillery, with 20-years of experience overseeing each step of the tequila making process – from growing and harvesting the agave to the triple distillation and bottling. The spirit, he says, is turning heads at competitions across the country.
“Just recently, at the 2014 San Francisco World Spirits Competition at the Hotel Nikko in San Francisco, Baron’s Platinum Blanco Tequila walked away with a gold medal,” Khaim Explains. “Coupled with a high score in the Ultimate Beverage Challenge, and now Baron’s incredible success at the Los Angeles competition, its clean and pure taste is truly putting Baron on the map.”
Khaim says that Baron Tequila has achieved a uniquely, clean smooth taste through a natural process maximizing the power of the agave itself. After ten years of growth, only the best parts are harvested for production and then slow cooked at a low heat allowing for all of the sugars to caramelize, he explains. Hand-guided pot-still distillation cooks off all of the impurities leaving only the heart.
“Because Baron is distilled three times, it results in an extract that gets cleaner and cleaner, ultimately achieving a zero-zero taste profile, eliminating any bad odor and bitter taste,” Khaim explains. “Unlike larger industrial producers, Baron is able to achieve a pure taste without the use of glycerin or other additives.
“According to the organizers of the 2014 Los Angeles International Spirits Competition, there were 347 Spirits entries from 134 producers, from 32 different countries. As a Gold Medal winner, the makers of Baron have been invited to represent its medal winning spirit at the “Cheers” event on Saturday, June 21, 2014. This event is the public unveiling- and tasting of the gold medal winning Spirits, Wine and Beers of the Los Angeles International Competitions.
