Barentz Completes Acquisition of Agrinutrition

07 Nov 2014 --- Barentz announces it has completed the full acquisition of AgriNutrition, specialised in the trading and distribution of raw materials and ingredients for the animal feed industry, based in The Netherlands with operations in Europe. This full acquisition follows the joint venture construction Barentz and AgriNutrition have had since 2008.

In light of these new developments, Barentz has appointed Paul Verboeket as Vice President to lead its (European) animal nutrition activities. AgriNutrition’s founder and former shareholder Alfred Jansen retired from the business on October 1st and will remain involved on a consulting basis. Marcel Lagerwaard - commercial director AgriNutrition – will be responsible for all trading activities of the animal nutrition business.

Barentz and AgriNutrition have seen strong growth in the Animal Nutrition industry. Alfred Jansen comments: “The developments in the Feed and Pet Food industry are interesting and there are ample opportunities to develop the business. Over the years, AgriNutrition has developed a growing position in this market in Europe, leveraging its strong portfolio in amino acids, proteins, and specialty ingredients like yeast cultures.  I have full confidence in the capabilities of Marcel Lagerwaard and his team to successfully lead the trading activities for Barentz Animal Nutrition and AgriNutrition in the future. Paul Verboeket: “It is our strategy to combine the AgriNutrition and Barentz Animal Nutrition activities. We are traditionally strong in providing vegetable proteins, carbohydrates and sugars to the feed industry and we will be strengthening our position together with the portfolio of AgriNutrition.” He continues: “Furthermore we will work closely together with our sister companies like Vitablend, LI Frank and Unilecithin to supply their products to the pet food and calf milk replacer industry. We will bring together all the competences of Barentz and AgriNutrition and translate them into valuable solutions for our customers.”
