Lightweight Edible Oil Closure Development from Astra Plastique

Nov 1 2010 --- Astra Plastique, part of the Global Closure Systems group, has launched one of the lightest tamper evident edible oil closures on the market called Isis Light. At just 1.2g the new standard closure weighs 45% less than the original Isis closure to meet the demands of the cost driven edible oil market.
The selection of resin for the manufacture of Isis Light has been key to obtaining the ideal sealing performance and improved functionality. Modifications to the design of the tamper evident tear-off band have resulted in a closure which is easier for the consumer to open: the band features in-mould pre-cut ends, which lift more easily and the thin walls of the tear-off band have been optimised for better opening efficiency. Also achieving improved performance on customer's capping lines, Isis Light is being adopted by an increasing number of branded and private label vegetable oils available on the market.
