Glanbia Nutritionals strengthens the science behind its whey-based weight management solution through a new study which is called Prolibra. The independent human clinical trials reveal a statistically significant reduction of up to 37.8 glycaemic index units in the blood after consuming Prolibra – good news for companies looking to launch healthy weight control products with a low GI claim. The glycaemic index (GI) measures how quickly foods release carbohydrates into the body, raising blood glucose levels. Low GI foods provide sustained energy release, promoting a feeling of satiety and delivering health benefits including weight management and reduced risk of diabetes and heart disease. These latest results follow two earlier studies that underpin Glanbia Nutritional’s ongoing commitment to science-based solutions and confirm Prolibra’s strength as an ingredient for sustained weight loss. Dairy expansion: Glanbia Nutritionals and partners invest US$470m in new Michigan facility

14 Aug 2018 --- Glanbia Nutritionals, Dairy Farmers of America and Select Milk Producers Inc. are set to build a new large-scale cheese and whey production facility in St. Johns, Michigan, US as part of a joint venture. The project is expected to be commissioned in the Q4 of 2020 and will cost approximately US$470 million.

Weekly Digest: Mondelēz commits to sustainable wheat sourcing, Chr. Hansen and FMC extend natural crop protection collaboration

08 Jun 2018 --- This week in business, Mondelēz is expanding its Harmony program, the company’s sustainable wheat sourcing initiative, to cover 100 percent of its biscuit brands in the European Union by 2022 and Nestlé Waters certifying all of its sites to the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) Standard by 2025. Chr. Hansen and FMC Corporation announced a five-year extension of their collaboration to develop and commercialize natural solutions for the agricultural industry and Nestlé was named most effective food marketer for the third year running based on the Effie Effectiveness Index 2018. A team of students from the University of Nottingham, UK won the gold prize at Ecotrophelia UK with their spicy BBQ flavored savory snack. Starbucks announced that its chairman Howard Schultz,  is to step down later this month and Pavlos Photiades has been elected for the second term as The Brewers of Europe President.

Glanbia Nutritionals put the spotlight on protein, gluten free and immune boosting ingredients for a range of applications at HiE 2016. Yves Vantomme of Glanbia Nutritionals believes that the gluten free trend still has legs. “The demand for gluten free products is still rising in Europe. Glanbia is offering a range of gluten free grains to meet that demand. Our muesli contains a fusion of all these grains, including flax, chia, our gluten free oat flakes and some dried fruits as well.”

New Market Opportunities Within the Heart Health Platform

Glanbia Nutritionals highlighted CardioTABS, a creative formulation which delivers the synergistic effects of their OmniMEGA and MenaQ7 ingredients. The only compressible omega 3 powder on the market, OmniMEGA is claimed to offer excellent stability and shelf life, along with reduced sensitivity to air and oxidation. It significantly minimizes the fishy reflux symptoms typically experienced with traditional omega 3 soft-gels, while offering equivalent absorption of EPA and DHA omega 3 fatty acids, proven to contribute to heart health.
