New Probiotic Solution for Infant Nutrition

DuPont launched their HOWARU Protect EarlyLife probiotic at VitaFoods Europe 2016 as part of its premium ingredient range. The new, clinically tested probiotic has been demonstrated to support the development of long-lasting immune health benefits in infants. HOWARU Protect EarlyLife contains the probiotic strain Lactobacillus rhamnosus HN001TM, and has been formulated specifically for expectant mothers and their infants.

DD Williamson (DDW) recently completed the acquisition of the food coloring product line and related processing equipment from Danisco USA, a part of DuPont Nutrition & Health. DDW’s expanded natural coloring operation in Port Washington, WI has manufactured all products following the transaction in December 2013. Combining Functional Ingredients in Meat

DuPont Nutrition & Health invited visitors to IFFA 2013 to test their senses and experience how the company’s recently expanded portfolio is building new opportunities for the meat industry. Rolling many of the combined portfolio benefits into one, DuPont presented a better-for-you salami concept – an appealing, reduced-fat snack that will please kids and their parents. The formulation contains texturizing SUPRO soya proteins, TEXEL Prism-1 maturation starter culture and the natural antioxidant GUARDIAN Rosemary Extract. A GRINDSTED Meatline emulsifier & stabilizer system enables fat reduction without sensory compromise.

The biggest pasta maker in the world, Barilla, is planning a $1.9bn bid for one of the UK’s most popular cereal brands Weetabix. Weetabix, which is the UK’s second biggest cereal brand, has been courted by a number of suitors since its Chinese owner Bright Food put the brand up for sale last year. Barilla, a 140-year-old Italian family pasta business, is thought to be one of a number of bidders for Weetabix, which also includes the food brands Alpen and Weetos. Other companies mentioned are Unilever, DuPont and Lonza.

WEEKLY PODCAST: DuPont Nutrition & Health Announce Investment to Expand Capacity in the US

DuPont Nutrition & Health has announced a significant investment to expand their probiotics production capacity in the US. The investment is the second phase of a broader probiotics expansion project due to the rapidly growing global demand for probiotics. The second phase which is scheduled to span over two-years, represents an investment of approximately $100 million, and increases the company’s probiotics production capacity by an additional 70 percent. Other companies mentioned are Kraft Heinz, Unilever and Ornua.
