Tereos Awards Novozymes for Innovative Transformation Process
23 Jun 2015 --- The top French sugar-producing company, Tereos, which ranks as the third largest sugar-producing group in the world, has established a prize for excellence in recognition of the know-how of its main European suppliers. This trophy was launched in Lille on the 3rd of June, 2015, upon celebrating the Group’s first suppliers meeting.
This initiative marked the Group’s desire to include its main suppliers throughout their working relationship, inviting them to participate in the Group’s competitiveness both in France and on an international scale. On this occasion, four suppliers from France, Belgium and Denmark were recognised in the four key fields.
Quality and assurance: SANINORD, a subsidiary company of Pôle AMI (Industrial maintenance and sanitation) pertaining to SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT, was awarded the prize for Quality and Assurance in reward for its exceptional commitment to protecting its team while working at risk and for the quality of the services provided.
Innovation: The prize for Innovation was awarded to Danish bio-technology company NOVOZYME for its development of a new product that made it possible to reduce manufacturing constraints, by making the transformation process more stable. Thanks to excellent cooperation between the Tereos and Novozyme teams, this development has made it possible to successfully produce a product completely compatible with current needs.
Social and environmental responsibility: PGS (Palettes Gestion Services), France’s leading wooden pallet management company, was awarded with the prize for Social and Environmental Responsibility, given the environmentally-friendly way it manages its wood and conserves forest resources. The two partners initiated a reforestation programme in the Aquitaine region, which was affected by the 2009 Klaus cyclone. For every one hundred pallets delivered to TEREOS, PGS replants two trees and one additional tree for every ten EXO-PGS pallets collected.
Project management: The prize for Project Management was awarded to DE SMET ENGINEERING, a Belgian industrial project management company, for the quality of its processes, particularly regarding client demands, since it operates as closely as possible to operators and communicates effectively when proposing innovative techniques.
Operational performance lies at the heart of the Tereos strategy. The group has also developed initiatives with which to reward excellent growers, which may be awarded both internally and to its providers. During the ceremony, Jean-Paul Ducher, the head of purchasing at Tereos, stated: “Tereos wanted to recognise its suppliers’ know-how, in order to demonstrate its willingness to develop meaningful working relationships throughout the duration of the Company’s service and in order to permanently improve performance. This meeting, to be held annually from now on, will make it possible to add value to our Companies as a result of collaborative efforts”.
