The new $7m (AUD) facility, which was officially opened by the Queensland Treasurer and Minister for Employment and Economic Development Andrew Fraser, will also serve as Asia-Pacific headquarters for Tate & Lyle’s Food Systems business.
10 Sep 2009 --- Tate & Lyle has opened a new state-of-the-art manufacturing and research and development facility for its Food Systems business for the Asia Pacific region in Wacol, Queensland which it says will reinforce its position as a leading ingredient supplier to the food industry.
The new $7m (AUD) facility, which was officially opened by the Queensland Treasurer and Minister for Employment and Economic Development Andrew Fraser, will also serve as Asia-Pacific headquarters for Tate & Lyle’s Food Systems business.
Brian Walker, Regional Sales Director of Tate & Lyle Food Systems, said: “This facility is part of a global network of development centres and will continue to draw on that international knowledge base. Our R&D investment is a real strength of the business and provides the basis of strong customer partnerships.
“The new R&D facility in Queensland is one more example of our commitment to help our customers develop innovative new food products.”
Tate & Lyle Food Systems works closely with manufacturers to develop food products which meet changing consumer needs. Its ingredients enable foods to maintain integrity throughout their shelf life, providing healthier products by reducing the fat content, reducing or replacing sugar, or enhancing the fibre content.
Mr Walker said health, wellness and convenience are the big trends in the food industry, but that consumers do not want to compromise on taste. This is where Tate & Lyle’s expertise is valuable, helping customers develop good tasting healthier products.
“Our facility in Queensland incorporates the latest in innovative design and technology in food hygiene and allergen control. Everything has been designed to have minimal impact on the environment with extensive waste management regimes in place and the best in occupational health and safety for our staff,” Mr Walker said.
