07/05/07 Close Up TV News recognizes Connecticut's Palmieri Food Products Inc. for their reputation as one of the country's finest producers and distributors of homemade sauces. In 1920, Anna Palmieri's famous sauce became the first commercially available spaghetti sauce in the United States. Today Palmieri Food Products (http://www.palmierifoods.com) has become synonymous with spaghetti sauce, producing over 100 recipes of their home-cooked to perfection red sauce, and allowing others to enjoy the Palmieri family secret.
As the third generation president of the still family-owned and operated Palmieri Food Products, Patrick Palmieri has taken his grandmother's recipes from the household to a household name. The company has retained its fantastic reputation through their experience and commitment to providing customers with the highest quality homemade sauce.
"Our products are 100% natural," says Palmieri. "We could add thickeners, tomato extenders, sugars, coloring and preservatives and increase the profit margin, but I made a conscious decision never to do that. We sell quality and that's the way it will remain."
Palmieri Food Products is committed to providing for everyone from the local grocery store to wholesale markets like Sam's Choice, BJs, Costco where their sauces are available.
"We make very little inventory, everything is made on order," says Palmieri. "We keep it fresh, we keep it current and we don't make businesses buy any more than they have to."
