McVitie's Assortments Now Available in Mini
The No.1 branded assortment in the UK, McVitie’s Victoria, is set to grow sales with the launch of the smaller 250g format.
18/09/08 This will enable retailers to capitalise on the sales and profit potential that assortments can provide all the year round and not just at seasonal times.
The No.1 branded assortment in the UK, McVitie’s Victoria, is set to grow sales with the launch of the smaller 250g format.
With a £2.29 MRRP, the new 250g Victoria assortment is perfect for consumers who want premium biscuits to enjoy throughout the year for coffee mornings, after dinner biscuits or small informal gifts.
42% of Victoria purchasers live in a 2-person household, highlighting that the new smaller format is more suited to their needs. The family favourite includes the same classic six biscuit varieties so customers can feel like it’s a special occasion every time.
Building on the success of the 500g box, UBUK has developed a new, smaller 175g format of its Belgian biscuit Masterpieces range - the No.1 continental assortments.
The new format, also with a MRRP £2.29, will encourage consumers to buy boxes all year round as a treat for the home or to share with the family, allowing retailers to increase sales and profit opportunities throughout the year.
Both ranges hold the number one spot in their segment, with McVitie’s Victoria enjoying growth of 7% in the premium assortment market, and McVitie’s Masterpieces also achieving £1.1m RSV last year resulting in the title of the biggest-selling branded continental range.
Nick Stuart, Commercial Manager, UBUK comments, “Stores that just stocked assortments at Christmas can now provide their customers with a range all the year round from the new smaller formats. The total assortment biscuit market is worth £155m. So retailers should look to capitalise on these new additions to boost sales and profits. These premium sharing propositions provide their customers with a variety of indulgent biscuits for everyday social occasions which have been typically reserved for special occasions, such as Christmas or Easter.”
