Cafosa Gets Safety Accreditation, Highlights Innovations
Cafosa guarantees the food safety in every step of the gum base production process: during production, distribution, storing and manipulation of the gum base and its ingredients, from primary production to consumption.
13/02/08 Cafosa has obtained the ISO 22.000:2005 certificate, accredited by Rva DNV (Det Norske Veritas – The Netherlands). The ISO 22.000 is a management standard that implies a gathering of policies, structures, procedures and documents and by implementing it, Cafosa expresses its commitment and involvement with food safety.
The aim of the ISO 22.000 is to standardize the food safety requirements for all activities inside the food chain. Its application is voluntary and it is implemented by organisations that -like Cafosa- are looking for a food safety management standard that is more focused, more coherent and more integrated than normally required by law. The difference with other existing food safety standards is that the ISO 22.000 focuses also on food safety rather than only on product quality.
Cafosa achieved all requirements to ensure a food safety management for all activities inside its food chain. Cafosa guarantees the food safety in every step of the gum base production process: during production, distribution, storing and manipulation of the gum base and its ingredients, from primary production to consumption.
By obtaining the ISO 22.000, Cafosa once more demonstrates its commitment to food safety and ensures the production of high quality and high standard gum bases.
Cafosa says it is constantly innovating and has launched its newest technologies in chewing gum and gum bases to the confectionery industry. Developments are focused on technologies that are not usual when making gum: Compressing technologies (All in Gum) and Candy depositing (Gum to Mould).
All in Gum is a directly compressible powder gum made with gum base and sweeteners (sugar or polyols), created to produce compressed chewing gum easier than ever.
All in Gum is so versatile that it can be customised to any specific need, offering a wide variety of possible compressed products: sugar or sugar free, acid or non acid, any flavour, any shape, oral care, functional or medicated.
Making Functional/Medicated compressed gum is easier than ever because, when used with active ingredients, All in Gum offers remarkable advantages:
• The process does not require such high temperatures as regular chewing gum.
• Moisture is not an issue since formulas obtained have no liquids.
• The intake can be perfectly balanced and controlled, and so its gradual release and absorption.
With less steps in the process – not having to worry about heat or moisture exposure and being able to compress it either by tableting or briquetting – the customer will be able to create better products in a more efficient and cost-effective manner.
Meanwhile Gum to Mould is an innovative chewing gum that can be manufactured using existing depositing technologies. Gum to Mould is made with a low viscosity and extremely versatile gum base patented by Cafosa.
Since Gum to Mould is used with depositing technologies, it offers a wide variety of combinations to develop all kinds of colours, textures, shapes and fillings. It can be presented not only as a chewing gum but also in combination with candy, as a filling to it.
Gum to Mould makes it possible to explore and define a new range of confectionery products:
• Sugar or sugar free; bubble or chewing; oral care, functional or medicated
• Appealing shapes
• Multiple colours: stripes, swirls, layers…
• Combining flavours: sweet and sour, cream and fruit…
• Combination of functionalities: teeth whitener and breath freshener; nasal decongestant and throat smoother…
• Unlimited combination of shapes, colours, textures, flavours and active ingredients
Gum to Mould combines functional benefits of gum with visual appeal and exciting variety of tastes, textures and shapes that depositing technology offers.
With Gum to Mould anything imaginable in a depositing line can be formulated in chewing gum.
