Orafti to Increase Price of its Inulin Products
Orafti said in a statement that it has held prices for the last three years and has worked hard to address increasing costs with efficiency improvements but the business can no longer absorb these escalating expenses.
05/09/07 Chicory–derived prebiotic supplier Orafti Active Food Ingredients has announced a price increase on its range of BENEO inulin and oligofructose products for the first time in three years. Liquids will increase by 6% and powdered products by 8%. The increase will be implemented from the 1st of October 2007 and is a direct result of spiralling raw material and energy costs.
Orafti said in a statement that it has held prices for the last three years and has worked hard to address increasing costs with efficiency improvements but the business can no longer absorb these escalating expenses.
Dominique Speleers, Managing Director & Head of Sales and Marketing commented: “We are aware of the impact that the price increase will have for our customers. However, the rising raw material and energy costs have made it impossible for Orafti to hold prices for yet another year. We still passionately believe Beneo products add real value for our customers and that our overall service offering of nutritional science, regulatory expertise and consumer marketing is world-class within our marketplace."
“We will continue to drive the prebiotic marketplace forward and utilise our resources to work with our clients in the development and launch of new products that promote digestive health by adding the Beneo feel good factor. In addition, through our investment in a 2nd major plant in Chile, we can provide real security of supply to support this growth,” Speleers added.
