IOI Loders Croklaan Reaches 34% Sustainable Palm Oil Milestone
18 Feb 2014 --- In 2013 IOI Loders Croklaan, one of world’s leading suppliers of sustainable palm oil, has imported and marketed 348.000 ton of sustainable palm oil in Europe. That is 34% of the total volume sold by IOI Loders Croklaan in 2013.
Ben Vreeburg, IOI Loders Croklaan sustainability director: “For 2013 our goal was to increase the volume of certified sustainable palm oil to 30% of our European sales. We are excited to see that we have reached and even exceeded our goal, since we are very committed in stimulating the buying of certified palm oil”.
Vreeburg: “We expect a continuous increase of RSPO certified palm oil in 2014. This is due to a growing belief that sustainable palm oil is the right thing to buy. New EU labelling legislation (2015) and a growing demand for traceable supply chains are other key factors”.
IOI Loders Croklaan sustainable palm oil is primarily produced by its parent company, IOI Group in Malaysia, one of the founding members of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). This year IOI Group has reached a full RSPO certification of her mills.
