Eurogerm opens subsidiary in Colombia, accelerates international expansion
04 Jul 2018 --- Eurogerm has set up its eleventh international subsidiary, outside of France. Its new unit, based in Medellin, Colombia, will enhance the group’s growth opportunities in the country, according to the company, which has 40 industrial bakeries and 30 flour mills.
The new establishment, Eurogerm Colombia, will extend Eurogerm’s technical and commercial reach in Latin America, a region where it already has subsidiaries in Mexico, Peru and Brazil.
“We are currently establishing a warehouse and sales office in the city of Medellin. It will also include a test bakery to present customers freshly baked new products and customized them according to their request. Technical assistance will also include an on-site adaptation of our improvers’ formulas to comply with client recipes and bakery lines. This close attention to customers’ needs and physical proximity has been a key factor of success for Eurogerm for many years and we shall duplicate it in Colombia,” Serge Momus, Director of Alliances and External Growth at Eurogerm tells FoodIngredientsFirst.
Benoît Huvet, Eurogerm’s Chief Operating Officer, and Jean-Philippe Girard, its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, also comments: “The opening of this new subsidiary represents a key milestone in the execution of our strategy of international expansion. Our presence in Colombia will help to raise our profile and establish a stronger foothold in the Andean and Caribbean regions. We also remain on the look-out for any international acquisition and development opportunities.”
The subsidiary is run by Andrés Builes, a food engineering specialist who has worked with Eurogerm for several years. It will be beneficial to its customers in Colombia and also provide local technical assistance so that they can customize their products and services to a high degree, according to the company.
