Symrise launches clean label Culinary Bases

12 Jan 2018 --- In order to address changing consumer demand for cleaner labels, Symrise Flavor N.A. has launched an extensive line of clean label Culinary Bases that are crafted from both Symrise flavors and extracts and farm-to-flavor ingredients from Diana Food.

This continuously growing collection of clean label Culinary Bases features a wide range of ethnic, vegetable and spice varieties. It includes Ancho Morita; Cajun Vegetable; Caribbean Jerk; Cilantro Lime; Creole Chicken; Gochujang; Harissa; Korean Barbecue; Mexican; Mirepoix; Mushroom; Roasted Tomato; Sofrito; Spinach Vegetable; Sriracha; Thai Curry; Tomato Basil; and Tomato Vegetable.

Dylan Thompson, Marketing Consumer Insight Specialist explains: “We take the same ingredients our customers cook with and masterfully blend them with essential oils and extracts to create great tasting, clean label solutions. In some cases, we add flavors to these bases to increase the intensity and make them more economical.”

The Nutrition segment markets its nearly 2,000 products in 89 countries via four business units: Food, Pet Food Aqua and Probi. They deliver natural sensory product solutions for taste, texture, color and functionality in foods, beverages, and baby food based on backward integration processes for vegetables, fruit, meat and seafood. It also supplies natural-taste and acceptance- enhancing products for pet foods and sustainable marine ingredients for aquacultures. And there are also probiotics for foods, beverages and nutritional supplements with health-promoting benefits.

13 Apr 2018 --- There is speculation that the European Commission may take action over the sale of certain grill flavorings later this month (April 22). There has been an ongoing discussion about the safety of “grill flavorings” due in part to their production process. While the regulatory fate of two of these flavorings will be clear later this month, Symrise is already jumping into this space with new solutions. The new solutions, which the Germany-headquartered flavor supplier presents as “Flavor Type Grill” as opposed to “Grill Flavors,” to avoid confusion, can be labeled as “natural flavorings.”
