Hain Celestial Expands into Premium Soup Offerings, Acquires Yorkshire Provender

17 Feb 2017 --- The Hain Celestial Group have announced that one of its wholly-owned subsidiaries has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase The Yorkshire Provender Limited, which is subject to formal clearance from the Competition and Markets Authority in the United Kingdom.  

Yorkshire Provender, founded in 2007, is based in North Yorkshire, England, and produces premium branded soup and its products are sold in leading retailers, on-the-go food outlets and food service providers in the United Kingdom.

"We welcome Belinda and Terry Williams, co-founders of Yorkshire Provender, to the Hain Celestial family and look forward to working with the Yorkshire Provender team in leading the next chapter of the brand's development," said Irwin D. Simon, Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hain Celestial. "Yorkshire Provender has a premium brand positioning that complements our New Covent Garden Soup Co. and Cully & Sully brands in the United Kingdom."

Yorkshire Provender will continue to operate from its Yorkshire location. "This is a significant milestone for Yorkshire Provender and we look forward to working with the Hain Daniels team to continue our growth in new and existing customers," said Belinda Williams.

In calendar year 2016 Yorkshire Provender had approximately £6 million ($7.4  million) in net sales and is expected to be accretive to Hain Celestial's earnings in fiscal year 2018.

Private label sector continues to impress, gains evident across Europe

The latest Nielsen data shows that market share for private label increased last year in 12 of the 19 countries tracked for the Private Label Manufacturer's Association’s (PLMA) 2018 International Private Label Yearbook, and now stands at 30 percent or above in 17 countries.
