Eurofins Launches New Food Fault Investigation Service
05 Sep 2016 --- Public Analyst Scientific Services (PASS), part of the Eurofins Scientific group, has launched a new service for manufacturers, retailers and enforcement authorities to investigate food faults received from consumers and manufacturers.
As well as providing testing services through the Eurofins global network of laboratories to analyse the authenticity, quality and safety of food, PASS is offering a complaints investigation service, which includes foreign body identification, taint and off-flavour analysis as well as authenticity and quality checks. The team of Public Analysts can also provide expert opinion on composition and safety.
Sue Riley from Eurofins said: “Newspaper headlines about insects, glass, plastics or other foreign bodies found in food by consumers are common. This kind of negative exposure, especially when fuelled by social media, can have a devastating effect on a brand. At Eurofins we recognise that food retailers and manufacturers need to be able to respond to consumer complaints with accurate information as quickly as possible. This service, provided by our team of Public Analysts, ensures that a high level of expertise, knowledge and experience is applied in the interpretation of results to give customers”.
A new web based interface will be launched shortly to give customers fast, easy access to the service. This will also provide a link to the reporting and trending functionality of Eurofins’ euro-portal, allowing customers to highlight potential problem products, leading to preventative action and a potential reduction in complaints and the associated costs.
