Royal DSM Makes Changes Across Nutrition as it Looks to Meet Ambitious Profit Targets
04 May 2016 --- Royal DSM, the Dutch vitamin giant, has appointed Jeremy Xu, the former executive at DuPont, to head up its Human Nutrition & Health business, in a further rejig of its nutrition arm at it looks to meet ambitious profit targets.
The latest developments will see a number of personnel changes and follows Royal DSM's pledge in November 2015 to increase profit growth across nutrition business above the market rate by 2018.
Feike Sijbesma, CEO Royal DSM said: “I am convinced that the Nutrition organization, under the leadership of DSM Board Member Stephan Tanda and DSM Nutritional Products President and CEO Chris Goppelsroeder, is well prepared to capture the attractive market growth opportunities for its businesses and to deliver on its communicated goals.”
DSM reported eight percent growth across Human Nutrition, although this was helped by favorable comparisons with the year previous. Higher-value products made a strong contribution.
Overall Food & Beverage performed well, despite weak market conditions in the US.
Dietary supplements show improved sales of fish oil and multi vitamin-based supplements. Infant Nutrition performed well amid a healthy market.
Its Food Specialities unit delivered a four percent organic growth in Q1 powered by food enzymes and hydrocolloids.
Overall nutrition, including animal nutrition reported sales of €1.25 billion ($1.4 billion) in the QI.
