Clean Label Ingredients at Forefront for MGP
21 Oct 2016 --- Supplier of specialty wheat proteins, starches and premium distilled spirits, MGP is offering solutions to help meet the growing demand for clean label products with its range of clean-label orientated ingredients.
At the forefront are the premium native wheat starches are Midsol 50 and Pregel 10, plus the wheat protein isolate Arise 800 - all of which are non-GMO Project Verified and deliver a wide range of food applications.
For Midsol 50 and Pregel 10 these include providing moisture control capabilities, imparting desired texture and tenderness, possessing smooth film-forming properties, increasing viscosity, improving binding and adhesion, and enhancing product shelf life. Applications range from batters and coatings to cakes, mixes, cookies, biscuits and soups, sauces and salad dressings.
For Arise 800 can enhance dough strength and elasticity and effectively supplement weak flour characteristics for added volume and principal applications include breads, rolls, buns, biscuits and bakery mixes.
MGP also offers several choices that address growing needs for Non-GMO Project Verified ingredients, including a combination of 22 specialty wheat starches and proteins. Along with Midsol 50, Pregel 10 and Arise 8000, they include signature proprietary ingredients such as Fibersym RW resistant wheat starch, all other starches in the Midsol and Pregel lines, Optein lightly hydrolyzed wheat protein, and FP 300 and FP 600 wheat protein concentrates.
In July FoodIngredientsFirst reported how all the company’s food grade starches are now designated as Non-GMO Project Verified. Verified status is also in place for several of the company’s wheat proteins. This important milestone signaled MGP’s deepening commitment to the “better for you” market segment and to meeting rigorous testing and production requirements.
