10 Sep 2009 --- Norwegian SmartSeal and Austrian Alpla, both specialising in beverage closures, have signed a long-term agreement that covers manufacturing of the patented SmartSeal Flex range of closures.

The SmartSeal Flex family of closures are unique in their functionality and design, with an automatically activated valve as the main feature. This provides spill control and increased user convenience in the growing market of on-the-go consumption.

“This agreement gives us the possibility to offer to our customer, manufacturing capacity from one of the leading manufacturer in the business,” said SmartSeal CEO, Jan Skoglund. “Working with Alpla puts SmartSeal in a premium position and gives us a possibility to manufacture ‘locally’ when introducing the SmartSeal Flex range of closures to the market.”

“The active closure, SmartSeal Flex, is the most interesting innovation in the closure market in the last year,” said Walter Knes, business unit manager of Alpla. “Alpla can bring this innovative product to market in a short time with local manufacturing around the globe.”

The agreement covers manufacturing around the world.
