FDA issues GRAS No Objection Letter for Reb D sweetener

17 Nov 2017 --- SweeGen, Inc., a nature-based sweetener company, and Ingredion have jointly announced that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) No Objection Letter for BESTEVIA Rebaudioside D stevia leaf sweetener for use as a general-purpose, non-nutritive sweetener for foods and beverages.

Olam reports Q3 profit hike

16 Nov 2017 --- Olam's third-quarter net profit grows 17.5 percent to US$24.1m, according to financial results posted by the agri-business giant - despite facing tough trading conditions for coffee and headwinds and pressure on cocoa businesses.The supplier says it significantly improved financial and operating performance – Q3 2017: PATMI up 17.5 percent to US$24.1 million, while operational PATMI is up 17.1 percent to US$24.0 million on strong volume growth and improved operational performance across most segments.

Bayn develops cloud-based platform for sugar reduction

Naturex buys Swedish Oat Fiber, as Q3 revenues slightly decline

15 Nov 2017 --- Naturex is firming up its presence in the natural nutrition market with the acquisition of Swedish Oat Fiber, a specialized manufacturer of oat dietary fibers, oils and proteins. A Naturex spokesperson confirmed to FoodIngredientsFirst that the acquisition price is not being disclosed, however, CEO of the French-headquartered group, Olivier Rigaud, says this latest acquisition will strengthen Naturex’s position and forms part of the company’s continuing strategy for organic and external growth.
